lists and combo box in a form

P: n/a
i am creating a database. i have the following question..

as per the specs...

i need to be able to pull other forms from the master form using either
a list or a combo box. what is the difference between the two and the
pros and cons

how do i make each of them so that when i chose a name of a form it
pulls it up with the information regarding that record (employee)

A combo box is a dropdown. You have the option of making one selection.
A listbox is similar to a combo box; you can display rows and columns
but you can display as many rows that can fit into the size of the
listbox you have sized on the form. Also, you can set the listbox to
allow a single selection or multiple selections. And you can allow
multiple selections to be selected one at a time (by click) or by
multiple selections as you can do by selecting files in Explorer.

To manipulate the combo/listbox, look at help topics that beginning with
Item (ItemData, ItemsSelected), List (ListCount, ListIndex), and
Selected. There are other related topics such as Column and MultiSelect.

So, do you want to present an option for 1 selection (combo) or the
ability to view a set of rows with the ability to select one or many rows.

There are many pros/cons, it's a determination on your part as to how
you want to display data. Oh, you wont be displaying a Listbox in a
datasheet, but that's not a con.

You want to choose a form name to display an employee?

Use the AfterUpdate (combo) or the Click (Listbox) events to do what you
want to do to display the data.

See the Docmd.OpenForm method in help. Something Like
Docmd.Openform "EmpForm",,,"EmpID = " & Me.Combobox

thanks ahead of time
