RTF2

P: n/a
I am using the RTF2 activeX control from Stephen Leban's website and
it works really well when there is one memo field. However, I cannot
get it to work with multiple memo fields (I have 4). I saw the code
for multiple memo fields and am trying to use it but not having any
luck. My RTF controls on the form just show "RTF2 Control Design View
Window". Any help would be appreciated.

What code did you see for multiple Memo fields? Generally, you would
simply add one RTF2 control for each of your Memo fields and bind each
control to its respective Memo field.

I have placed an activeX control for each of the four memo fields and
have given the name of the respective memo field as the control source
for the activeX control. I'm still just getting the "RTF2 Control Design
Window View" on each.

Sorry if reply appears twice - I'm not sure the earlier posting was
recv'd.

Do you mean that in Form view, not Design view, the RTF2 controls are
displaying "RTF2 Control Design View"?

Are you sure thses 4 Memo fields contain valid RTF data?

Can you test each Memo field on a single RTF2 control and verify?

Let me know. I have placed up to 6 RTF2 controls on a single Form/Report
with absolutely no issues at all.

I don't know what I did wrong initially but I recreated the text and
ActiveX Controls in the form and it is now working beautifully.

Now the problem I am having is with the report. So far I have only
placed one RTF control on the report and it is not growing with the
text. Any suggestions?

Did you look at the sample code on the Web site or behind the sample
reports showing you exactly how to simulate CanGrow/Srhink?

Yes I did. I took the code from the sample and placed it on my report.
There was code for the On Format, Open and Close events. I tried the
code exactly as it was and also tried changing the name of the ActiveX
control to the name of my control (I wasn't sure if I needed to do that
or not). It didn't make a difference either way. The control is still
not showing all of the text and, in some records, the spacing between
words and letters is quite wonky (i.e., kerning is way off). Thanks for
your help.

Whoops - spoke too soon. I had missed one area in the code where I
needed to change the name. It works now. Thanks very much for your
help. And thanks for the website - very useful.

I have encountered another problem with the RTF2 control. Everything
was working fine, but now when I attempt to open the report I created, I
get run-time error #2683 "There is no object in this control". Any
ideas?

Generally, this means the RTF2 control is not installed on this machine.
Are you opening the report on a different machine from where you
designed the original report?

I did open it on a machine that did not have the RTF2 control installed.
Then I went back to use it on my computer I began having this problem.
I resolved it by creating a form from scratch.

I'm still having some problems with the height. It seems to occur when
there is a large amount of text in the memo field. Especially if the
record spans more than one page on the report. The text just seems to
get cut off.
