Populating fields on form from different tables

Hi,

I have a transaction table that I need to update from a from. The form
should be able to display information from different tables.
I have a Learner table with Learner information. I also have an type of
qualification with various pieces of information about the qualification.
What I want to do is to select the learner from a dropdown box and once
selected, I need to populate various other fields on the form with
information about the learner. The same with the qualification. Then I need
to fill in some random details,(not from a table) and save it to my
transaction table.

How do I populate the fields on the form based on the selection of the
learner.

I would appreciate some info on this.

Thanks
Elmo
