combo auto expand

I have a combo box with Auto Expand and Limit to List both set to
'yes'.

When I type 'C' I correctly get:
C J Valeting
When I type 'CO' I get:
Cogent Seating Ltd
again correct
BUT when I go on to type 'COM', looking for 'Commercial Motors', I get
(incorrectly)
CoMgent Seating Ltd

Auto expand ceases to work and the keyboard appears to go into insert
mode.

The mystery is even worse in that this only occurs when Caps Lock is on
but not when it is off. Even worse, it only happens on one particular
computer - not on others.

There must be some setting on this computer which is causing this - any
suggestions as to what it could be?

You don't need to have Limit To List set to Yes, unless you intend to
add an entry to the underlying table of the combobox. Why you should
get such strange results on one computer and not others, I can't
answer. But I would certainly change Limit To List to No and see if
that solves the immediate problem.

I have had similar ghosts making me pull may hair out.
Most often they have turned out to be a stuck key - maybe Insert, or
Scroll Lock (God only knows what wierdness that will cause), or I've
had a stuck roller button on the mouse make controls do strange things.
Good luck
