AC2000 error on open: can't find file...

I just reinstalled Access 2000 on Windows 2000 after receiving an error on
open (occurred with any database):

[db1.mdb is just an example]
Can't find the file "C:\path\to\db1.mdb" (or one or more of its components).
Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries
are available."

The problem is I'm still receiving this error - and this is after
reinstalling the entire Office 2000 suite (and all 3 service packs), and on
opening a brand new database. My guess is something was left over in the
registry from the version that got blown up.

How did the previous version get blown up? I think it had something to do
with some aberrant "Application.SetOption" code that tried to set record
locking options that don't exist in AC2000.

Anybody have any clues where in the registry (or anywhere else) to look for
the fix?

Thanks in advance.
