Access 97 mdb file to a web server. Is it possible to link tables?

Dear guys:

First of all, I have to thank all of you, because I have found lots of
answers since months without having to call your attention to me until
now.

I have a database in access 97 which runs in a local network. Now the
guy that works with it "mainly" is located in other city. So, the
database is located in that city. The problem is that some of us,
need to consult the data and of course need sometimes to update
records.

I was trying to make some tests, and locate the database in our web
server and work with linked tables, but the ftp does not recognize the
file when I try to link them.

I was thinking that I can make a vb to synchronize information between
stand alone front end and local tables to the web server mdb file, so
this way the creationdate and modifieddate field will boss the
process. of course the unique id must be taken care, I will see how.
But I have definitely no experience on web development, also my boss
do not want a tool in web to manage the records, so the solution
should be linked tables or this syncrhonization. I have the
impression that for linking tables, the web server needs to recognize
the mdb file as valid. the same for synchronize the data.

So, if you can give me any advice, on how to do this, it would very
appreciated.

Our web server is linux, mysql and apache.

Thank you very much!!!!

You can use synchronization software such as Peersync:

I used it in my previous job and it was great.

You don't have the performance to do this across the web.

The best solution would be to use remote desktop. That way, the remote user
don't even need to install ms-access!!

You can read about this solution, and few others here:
