Map reference

Hi,
I have just had a request from a client who wants to relate the
collected records in a table to a map of an area. Basically what I think
they want is to be able to select an area on a digitised map and have the
home address records selected and entered into a table. Has anyone ever come
across a similar or identical system? I'm thinking of adding and additional
field to each record in the Households table which has a grid reference
entered in it for each address. Then getting the graphics to interact with
the access database is another kettle of spider. Any ideas folks??? John

MS MapPoint -$400 retail- works for most people. It would cost $1,000+ to
develop something similar that would not work/look as good.

I did hear of a pal of mine who did something with a scatter chart overlaid
on a map, but have no further information
