New Record Button does not work?

I put a new record button on a form and I get a message that "you can
not go to that record"

Would someone tell me what is wrong. I put buttons on both the parent
and child tables that go to first record, previous record, next record,
and last record with no problem.

Thanks for any help.

I am new at Access. Using Access 2000.

If you're getting the error when trying to move to a new child record, it's
most likely because there's no existing parent record.

Randy,
If there is something that causes Access to believe that the source table or
view is read only or that new records cannot be added then there is no new
record to go to. Check your SQL syntax and see if it uses grouping, unions,
or other bits of SQL that Access can't enable data modification in the data
sheet view of the result. Also check the table and make sure there are
appropriate keys & indexes defined. Last, try looking at the form
properties (if there is a form) and see if the ability to add records is
disabled in the form.
