First post to the group in about 5 years. In fall of 2000 the
organization that I work for migrated to a statewide govt. database
that ran over budget by about 80 million dollars over 10 years
development time. The "new and improved" system had no functionality
for the investigative subgroup I work for in regard to tracking cases
assigned to field investigators or reporting productivity stats.
I suggested an Access application and was given the green light to
develop it in my >spare< time. With the assistance of Litwin, Getz &
Gilbert and most importantly, much searching in this group I developed
an 8 table application that is now tracking over 24,000 cases and has
up to 18 concurrent users. The database has only had one "hiccup" since
2000 when, one summer day I was running the weekly "compact & repair"
and the building lost power in an electrical storm.
Just wanted to say thanks to all that post such great info and have
patience and pity on us neophytes! It was a fun experience being the
"creator"
Question: I have a very small database that is only updated by myself
and a worker on an entirely different network. What would be the best
way to to share read and write access to the application? Only gets
updated maybe 20 times a month maximum and we do have a common
intranet. Thanks!
