tableupdate() in MS Access?

I am using Win XP and MS Access 2003.

In MS Visual FoxPro the Tableupdate() function specifies which changes
made to the table or cursor should be committed.

Does a similar thing exist in MS Access?

Right now I have unbounded text boxes on my form and I use a select
statement in form load to fill them. If the user decides to save his
changes I use an insert sql statement to fill the table with the values
in the text boxes.

Is there a better way?

Jan Nordgreen,

If you're talking about a DAO recordset, then you would use the
..update method of the recordset object.

If you're talking transaction handling, then issuing the COMMIT
command itself is what "commits" the changes. In MS Access, this is
handled by DAO, via the DBEngine object (or Workspace object) and the
..BeginTrans, .CommitTrans, and .RollbackTrans methods.

Thanks Chris for your reply!

Sorry, I meant update sql when I wrote 'insert sql'.

So the method is as I explained?

1. Create a recordset with a sql query.
2. Set all text boxes on the form equal to a field in the recordset.
3. Let the user make changes in the text boxes.
4. If the user clicks a Save button I will use update sql to put the
text box values back to the table with the same condition as I used in
1.
5. If the user clicks a Cancel button, I will just clear the text boxes
and do no update.

In Visual FoxPro steps 2 and 4 are much simpler as you do not have to
program the details.

Jan Nordgreen.
