Making Access work faster

I have a Access database that I want about 10 users across the country
to access. Currently the application sits on a local server and the
users that are connecting to the server from far away, sit around for
several minutes before they can do anything-if anything at all. What
types of solutions are available for me? I have read something about
putting the database on a differant type of server, but i didnt seem to
follow too well. Can anyone provide some guideance?

You can export your tables to either MS SQL Server or MySQL and put those
tables online. The database will pretty much speed up to the speed it is on
the local network, possibly faster.

In either case you're going to have to go through a learning curve. I'm
partial to MySQL myself, and if you're looking for cheap/available its the
way to go. There are a lot of benefits to MS SQL too, its just a more
expensive approach.

There are plenty of sites that also host Access databases.

How about using Microsoft Terminal Server? We do that with out database
and it runs extremely well. It would involve you changing your server
setup.

The Terminal server client is a very 'thin' application, so it doesn't
use many resources on your local machine. Our IT people say that they
were even able to use it to run Access databases through dial-up phone
connections. It also adds a layer of security. Interestingly, Terminal
Server has a way of sharing processes that it has already loaded, so
that it appears to run faster when a more people are using it...
