Carl,

I do this in one of my apps. First you need to get the MSComm Activex
control installed on the POS PC. This is the tricky bit as you need to
have the Developers Edition to be able to distribute and register it.
This control allows you to easily send data to a COM port. (That is how
your PC is talking to the Cash Drawer, isn't it? If not then this might
not be of any help to you.) After you add this control to a Form, you
can set its properties to those needed for your COM port (ie. Baud rate,
etc). Then in you code where you want to open the drawer:

MSComm1.PortOpen = True
MSComm1.Output = Chr(27) + Chr(7) + Chr(5) + Chr(5) + Chr(7)

Check your documentation for the Drawer and modify the code above if
necessary.

You're a lightweight Carl. You shouldn't even be in the database business!
