How to use different data sources for different sections of a report?

I have a table that provides all the details necessary for the line
items of the report.

I would like to use some other information in the header of the
report. This information, like getting the invoice number for this
invoice, the customer's previous balance, etc., would come from a
completely different source.

However, it seems that the report properties only allow for one
datasource for the entire report.

Is there a way to use a different datasource for the report header?

Thanks.

Greg,

Have you tried a query that includes the various sources?

How about the DLookup function?

Yes the domain aggregate functions (I didn't know about them because
this is my first goaround with Access), including DLookup are what I
was looking for.

These are much easier than building it into one overall SQL statement.

Thanks for your help.

Jim,

The DMax seems like the solution I need to get my invoice number.

I want to get the highest invoice number from the Invoice table and
add one to it.

But, just to see how this works I'm forgetting about adding one until
I can pull the value from the table.

All the detail in my report is working fine.

I added a textbox to my report in the Report Header section.

I got the properties page for the textbox and put the following in the
control source property on the Data tab.

=DMax([INumber],[Invoice])

INumber is the field I want the maximum value for, and Invoice is the
table. There is data in the table.

When I run the report, it asks me to provide a parameter for the
values of both INumver and Invoice.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

I found an example of DMax and appear to be doing it correctly.

When I use a function like Date() in the text box, I get the right
answer in the report.

Thanks a lot.

Delimiters for the domain aggregate functions should be double-
quotes, not square brackets. Try =DMax("INumber","Invoice")
