Can't open linked DB files

I have an old XBASE (.dbf) files linked to Access 2K. This has been working
fine for several years. All of a sudden, when I try to access the linked
tables, I get a message "Index not found", and the table won't display.
Still works OK on other systems. I'm trying to do an update and need to
access the data on this system. Anyone have an idea what to do?
