Stop Autosave for Forms with Table Recordsource

I have some forms with table record source. Is there a way to get it to not
automatically update then table unless you hit save or something?
Right now I have the fields locked so they have to hit edit to unlock but
once they do that the record is automatically saved - even if they don't
want it to be.
I tried to do if me.dirty then undo but it's not working.
Also once the edit button is hit the form is unlocked unless they close the
form and reopen. I'm not sure where to put the code to relock it in between
adds - if that's the only way.
Can anyone help?
Thank you
