Direction on a project early on

P: n/a
I was asked a few questions on a new project. It was presented in a way that
had me going with Access, but then took a turn and am not sure of
alternative avenues. The basics, I have many text files. I want to search
the text files determine by the text file name what image (that was scanned
in via OCR) and display a list or something to view the possible many images
that contain that criteria. There's more but I'll leave that portion alone
and add one more thing. What should I do if this is a web app? VB? Perl?
Find a web designer? Any suggestions or comments? Could this be all done in
Access and how?

Thanks!!!

See the Dir() function in help. With Dir(), you can scan through a
folder and pick up names.

See also the following links. These will allow you to pick the folder
you want to start off in if this is not a static folder you will be
scanning.
http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0001.htm or
http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0002.htm

You could display the filenames in a listbox. You could either insert
the file names into a table and display or create a user-defined
function to display the list of files for selection

I am unsure as how to proceed if this is a web app.

Thanks Salad for the reply.

As I said this project is turning into a web based app. Ok it will be web
based. Does anyone have any knowledge or comments on how to start connecting
an Access database to a website? First doesn't it have to be an IIS server
for this to work? Can it be an Access database that has some VBA running in
the back ground and generate a webpage, for instance? This project is early
on and just seeing what direction to go. It's looking like I have to get
into other areas of development for this.

Thanks
