Refresh a lookup box?

P: n/a
Hi,

I am new to Access and I am creating a form. I have the following:

clients form which has the following lookup fields (in addition to
other entry fields)....

casemanager (from casemanagertable)
clientrep (from clientreptable)

I have also added two buttons to this table. One is an add a new case
manager button (in case it isn't in the lookup field) When this control
is pushed it opens the case manager form. The user can enter all of
the necessary data and then hit a 'save and close' button, which runs a
macro that saves the info and then closes the form. At this point the
user is looking at the original form again. What I need, is that when
the user is back at the original form, the new CaseManager name needs
to be shown in the lookup box so that they can select it. Then I need
to do the same thing for the clientrep lookup. Any help would be much
appreciated.

Thanks
Tina

In the AfterUpdate event of your add new case mgr form, put:

Forms!myCientForm!myCasMgrLookup.requery

(subsitute your form and control names)

this will update the underlying control source of the combo box that has
the case mgr lookups. BTW, no macro necessary to save a record. Access
saves records any time a form is closed or the user moves to a new/different
record.
In the OnClick event of your Close/Save button put:

DoCmd.Close
