MDAC(typ_typ) or MDAC(sdk.msi)

If one installs mdac2.8(sdk), must one also install mdac2.8 or does the
sdk imply the type?
I just want to write a programm with c++builder (in c++) where I just
have to send (and receive results) sql-statements to different dbms
(like oracle, mysql, db2, etc.). So I needed an odbc-driver (free),
which of the two do I need to install, the type or sdk? I do work with
windows2000 and xp.

Thanks in anticipation!

And perhaps some 3rd party drivers to cover those dbms'es not covered
by MSFT.

Thanks for your contribution, it did help me.
Now I do have mdac_typ2.8 and its skd.
I just want to develop an application in c++ (c++builder environment),
where by I will be able to ship sql-statements to different dbms(s) like
(mysql, oracle, db2, etc.) and get reply and display. Am I on the right
track? How do I go about with the connecting interface? - the
specification I found in msn was not helpful enough. I`m a newbie and
would appreciate an example (in code), how to build-up a connection (via
mdac).

Thanks,
Harp

That's beyond the scope of this *Access* forum.
You probably want to create a Connection object, followed by a Command
object and a Recordset object. The web is full of examples of that.
