date format

Hi Ng

I have got a form which uses to days date - the date is stored in a table
when pressing af save button.
The format in the code is :Format(Me.Form.Controls("CTLDato"), "mm/dd/yy")

My local settings on my computer for date separator is "-", and this works
fine, but when I chance my local settings for the separator to "." it won't
work. Then the date is saved with a ":", and the month and date are switched

Anyone got an idea why?

Don't worry about formatting for saving the date. Just use =Date() or =Now().
The latter if you want the current time as well as the date. Formatting is for
display only and has no affect on what is stored. Just use the format property
for that.

If you use an explicit format string "mm-dd-yyyy" rather than a named format
like "Short date" then your regional settings won't have any affect.
