Why you can't open Access 2003 db with Access 2000

Hello Access gurus,
I am curious as to why you can't open an Access 2003 Db with Access
2000. We have a Visual Basic application which is using DAO 3.6 to
connect to the Access database. It IS able to open an 2000 and 2003 Db
because they are all in Jet 4 database format, I assume. But when
trying to open an Access 2003 Db from Access 2000 you get the
'Unrecognized database' Error. Aren't they the same database structure
and the only difference is within the Access program??

The data is the same format but other things like code, forms, reports,
the things that you wouldn't look at in VB but would with Access are
different.

You have to remember when you're using Access, you're using two things,
a front end (Access) and a database (Jet).

When you are opening with VB all VB cares about is the Jet tables. Jet
table structure hasn't changed since A2000.

Access on the other hand is opening an Access application including all
the UI objects as well as the tables. This, in principle, is version
specific.
