Same font, same size, same printer but different length. Please explain

I created a line made up of repeated groups of "1234567890" using
Courier New, size 8 (Epson Photo 900).

I then printed it using Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Access Report. I
expected the fixed-space font to align correctly the entire line; but
they went out of syn after digit "9" in the 1st group.

Can some please explain ? Thanks.

Is there a built-in Courier New in the printer?

Are the margins or other page settings different?

There is certainly no fidelity gurantee between Access and Word here, but
usually differences can be tracked to one of these two issues....

There is a built-in Courier, not Courier New.

Are the margins or other page settings different? Margin is irrelevant, I think, because the 2 lines are laid on top of
each other starting at "1".

Well, someone suggested placement of characters between each other, aka
kerning !?

That would be my guess, but prior to your post I would have thought that a
mono-spaced font would be immune to that. I know that kerning is a big
difference between Word and Access with proportional fonts mostly seeming to
affect the spacing between words.
