Website Internal Messaging System

Hello everyone,

I can't seem to find what I'm looking for on the net at any of the asp
sites. I want to build a simple internal messaging system where users can
send and receive messages to each other, Not a chat.

For example, Bob clicks on a "Send Message" in Susans Profile. Bob is
directed to a page with a text area where he writes a message and then sends
it.

Susan logs in and sees that there is a message from Bob. She can open it and
read it, save it or delete it or respond to Bob.

Sounds simple enough but where and how would you store these messages in the
ms-access database? Is there a way to place a table inside of an existing
tables field? or what would be the best way to store and retrieve these
messages?

I know the SQL syntax to add and retrieve data, but don't know where to
store the data in the database. Can anyone offer some insight on how to do
this or a link to a website that has downloadable examples?

Thanks, David

I think I figured it out. I created a new table to receive the messages
which populates a "From" and "To" fields as well as the message itself. Then
a check messages page queries this table against the current users
userSession var and if there are messages for him in the "To" field it grabs
the other info from the sender including the message.

From there I can add the other fields for "NewMessage" , Date Sent, etc...

I haven't got it to actually work yet but think I'm on the right track.

David
