find duplicates wizard Fao Darryl Kerkeslager

Hi Daryl.
Thanks for you interest. I don't have the SQL, unlesss you mean the
SQL behind the query?
as to the "re-structuring" The first part of the wizard asks for the
fields that may contain duplicate info, then click next, the wizard
then asks you for fields that you wish to be shown within the query.
If I input the fields on the first part and imput nothing on the
second part the query shows duplicates, if I "reconstruct" or use the
query wizard again and add any field in the second part, the query
returns no records.
My apologies for not making it clear.
Many Thanks
Phil

1. I tried to get the same results you report, but had no luck.

Here is the SQL that the wizard generates with no fields selected:

SELECT First(address.add_off_id) AS [add_off_id Field],
Count(address.add_off_id) AS NumberOfDups
FROM address
GROUP BY address.add_off_id
HAVING (((Count(address.add_off_id))>1));

Here is the generated SQL if I add the address_id field:

SELECT address.add_off_id, address.address_id
FROM address
WHERE (((address.add_off_id) In (SELECT [add_off_id] FROM [address] As Tmp
GROUP BY [add_off_id] HAVING Count(*)>1 )))
ORDER BY address.add_off_id;

Note that you can see the SQL after you have created your query in the
wizard by choosing "SQL View" from the View menu. Without seeing this SQL,
it would be difficult to figure out why your results are different than what
would be expected.

2. Despite the problems you are having posting to the thread from Google,
don't post with my name in the subject - most persons in the ng would
probably just ignore your post, seeing my name, and you might lose the
benefit of a reply from someone who solved the exact same problem 6 years
ago.

3. Why you're at Google, search for 'newsreaders'. If you have Outlook or
Outlook Express, or most any email program, you have a newsreader built in.
Also if you use Opera for your browser. If you don't have your own account,
there still should be some way that you can access the ng and be able to
post to the desired thread ... I think.
