Disable Write Conflict Dialog

I have an Access 2000 front end with a SQL Server 2000 back end. I
have about 15 users using the database at any given time and sometimes
a problem comes up where 2 people are accessing the same record and
changes get lost (from what I've read, even though I tried to set
Access to use pessimistic locking, it reverts back to optimistic
locking when it's a SQL Server table). So I wrote code to lock a
record and notifiy another user that the record is locked and prevent
them from making changes.

The problem I'm having is that the users don't always close out the
form and therefore, the code to unlock a record and lock the next
doesn't get executed. I've written more code to handle this situation,
however, now a "Write Conflict" dialog box pops up saying that the
record has been changed by another (in this case, my code) and there's
the buttons to either drop the changes or copy them to the clipboard.
If I click on the X to close the dialog box, my changes have been saved
and all is well.

I'd like to know if there is any way to disable or suppress this dialog
box from popping up. Or is there something else I'm not doing that
would work better?
Thanks.
