NOT FIRST OR LAST

In ACCESS 97 : in a txtbox i have *(whateverdata)*
I would like to show on screen (whateverdata), so whithout the 2 *

for the first one i used mid(txtboxname,2)
for the last one i used right(txtboxname,1)

but mid(txtboxname,2) - right(txtboxname,1) doesn't work!! how come?

Mid() and Right return strings. What you have there translates to...

(whateverdata) - *

What you want is...

=Mid(txtboxname,2, Len(txtboxname)-2)
