File management functionality

I have a project I'm working on that is in part a file manager. I would like
to be able to drag either a file, a shortcut, or an Internet shortcut over
any kind of control in Access, and read the file path or the shortcut
information. Is that possible? Thanks!! -- dt

There is a Microsoft Knowledgebase article about drag-and-drop support
in Access. If I recall correctly, Access may not be the best platform
(always a good idea to check capabilities BEFORE you start the
project).

Are you talking about Q137650? That talks about simulating d&d within
Access, but not from outside.

Access is very good for some purposes but not for others.

I have come across an old database of mine that has some nice document
management features designed in. I would like to update that database in
some areas and re-release a new version. D&D to and from hard drive folders
would be nice, but its not going to happen (unless I am missing something,
which is why I posted).

Thanks for your note. I did search the KB but didn't find specifically what
I was looking for. But not finding something is at least closure.

Take a look at my Feb, 2004 Access Answer column in Pinnacle Publication's
Smart Access for an approach that might work (although I'll admit it's a
little kludgy)

Doug, thank you very much. I took a peek at it and you seem to have answered
my questions. I'll take a closer look this week. Thanks! -- dt
