Help! which function to use to identify repeated items in a table?

Hello,

There is a table tblProduct, there is a field ProductNumber

for example:

ProductNumber

001
002
003
009
003
010
-----------------------

which function should I use if I want to express that the ProductMumber 003
was repeated.

Many thanks in advance,

Paul

I would create a query. Create a query with the table. Drag product
number into 2 columns. Click View/Totals from the menu. In the totals
row the first productid is GroupBy, the second is Count. In the
Criteria row under Count enter >1

Example:
SELECT ProductID, Count(ProductID) AS CountOfProductID
FROM Products
GROUP BY ProductID
HAVING Count(ProductID)>1;

This will give you a list of all products with dupes. You can open this
up with a recordset and process as you like.

Have a look at the "Find Duplicates Query Wizard"

You'll have to create a query for this...

1. Create a new query in Design View
2. Select table tblProduct (from the dialog box)
3. On the menu bar, select View, SQL View (you will see the following
SQL statement: SELECT FROM tblProduct)
4. Modify the statement to the following:
SELECT tblProduct.ProductNumber, Count(tblProduct.ProductNumber) AS
ProdCnt
FROM tblProduct GROUP BY tblProduct.ProductNumber;
5. On the menu bar, select View, Design View
6. On the button bar, click the red exclamation mark to run the query.
