Is DevelopersDex Hijacking Usenet?

Related to another fellow's post in a thread here, I did a google search
on "Sent via Developersdex" for cdma - nothing showed up.

Presumeably this means when a poster goes through this organization,
Developersdex sets the xnoarchive so that Google doesn't archive the post.

If I have this right, what are these Developersdex idiots trying to do?

When they started grabbing my posts a few years ago when they started, I
wrote them and told them to *&^% off and leave me alone and I haven't
been bothered since.

I believe that is the point, yes. They want to have their own private message
threads that you can only get to by going there, and also make it look like
they have a huge volume of messages by including all the traffic from some
Usenet groups as well.

I have posted many replies (under several names) which, in total must amount
to many, many hours of thought and typing. And this is a relatively small
contribution when compared to the most prolific posters in the group. I
don't mind giving up my time for free to help others, but I would not like
to see my contributions passed off as something other than what they are.
Certainly the tag

*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***
Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!

is slightly puzzling. I wonder who might be getting rewarded for what and
whether someone is trying to get rewarded from re-cycling stuff from cdma.
Perhaps people might simply boycott posts with that tag - it certainly makes
me a lot less likely to answer, but you never see them left unanswered.
Perhaps other people aren't bothered.

It appears to me from lurking and participating that the folks with the
irritating devdex ditty are relatively new to this forum (and probably
others, I haven't seen it on the Oracle groups, but I don't browse there
nearly as much as here) and easily duped by Devbelosdex.

A possible response would be "you're NOT participating in usenet, please
repost"...

It's become plain to me that the sort of behaviour one sees from time to
time in general, usually regional, usenet groups in which someone gets a
chip on one's shoulder and goes to whatever config group is appropriate
in an attempt to make a breakaway group is being practiced in a much
larger way by these idiots (the Devdex promoters, not those unwittingly
using their service, I mean).

Guess what, I was wrong. I did a google today and got thousands of
hits. I suspect I spelt Developsdex wrong.

I apologize to everyone on the group and especially to any DevDex people
as well for talking out of my backside.

I will now slither back beneath my rock....

I've posted questions on Usenet and received an e-mail that someone has
responded to my question. So I go to Usenet and read it. I don't mind
being informed if someone has responded to a question I've written. Of
course, this was done when I used my real name or a real account...I've
since learned that using a real account can get you onto spam lists, get
viruses, and name hijackings so I've opted to let usenet get a fake
address and avoid all that crap.

If someone has a service that helps folks out, I have no problem with it.
