Default Database folder question

I have several Access 2000 applications running under Windows 98. Each
application has its own folder to write data to disk e.g. to export, to save
reports, or to pick up Word documents for mail merging.

Now I have tried specifying the pathnames in the "start in" in each
application's desktop shortcut, but Access insists on using only the "default
database folder" set within Options. Unfortunately this stays at the value set
regardless of the application, so I have to keep resetting it manually or find
that the applications keep accessing the wrong folders.

I'd be grateful for advice on visual basic code which can be run at start up to
set the "default database folder" from the value in the "start in" pathname in
the shortcut. I've tried the help files but cannot find the information I need.

Many thanks.
