Output as outlook e-mail group

I am faced with quite a conundrum. I have been assigned to develop a
contact database, that can be queried using many different criterion.
Now the hardest part is, my clients want to view the contact
information including their e-mails and eventually send them e-mails.
Now the output could be a group of 50 people that matched the
criterion, and my client wants to be able to e-mail to all of them,
preferably with a single click, just like emailing to an e-mail group,
dist. list, in outlook. I am using Access 97. Windows 2000
Professional.

Now this probably can be done easily in Outlook but I am afraid,
performing a search on various fields meeting different conditions, is
not possible in outlook.

I would appreciate very much any kind of input in this regard. Thank
you all.

I just had the same issue with my client.

Simply create a global (memo) field to store the list of email addresses

dimension a variable like EN as string, then loop through your filtered
recordset or recordsetclone

Just set EN to equal each record...
Im only giving you the guts of the procedure.

..movefirst
EN = [OriginalEmailFieldName] ' this places the first email into EN, if you
dont do this, the first character will be a ;
.. movenext
while not .eof
EN = EN & "; " & [OrignialEmailFieldName]
..movenext

when you have finised looping, set you global field to EN

GlobalEmail = EN

thats it.

or just do your followhyperlink to EN without saving the emails in a global
field. I needed to save them..

What if you had something like this in your DB:
Contact--(1,M)--IsMemberOf---(M,1)---MailingList

Then if you wanted to mail something to all the members of a given
list, you could just use a combobox to show MailingList (or
Distribution Group/List or whatever Outlook calls it), and then just
automate Outlook. Tony Toews's site has code for all that. You'd
just loop through your recordset of members of a list and use
something like:

do until rsGroup.EOF
olkMsg.Recipients.Add(strAddress)
Loop

....
olkMsg.Send

building strings and all that is just a total PITA. If you don't
have/like/want outlook, you could use BLAT, or CDOSys or whatever if
you don't like playing directly with the Outlook object model.
