Using Access 97, I've created a grading sheet. To save space, the
subjects
are in vertical columns on a sub-report, like so:
Math Spelling Reading
N C T A A E
U A I C C X
M L M C C P
B C E U U R
E U S R R E
R L A A S
A T C C S
R T A Y Y I
E I B O
etc. empty space here
-------------------------------------------
Student1
Student2
etc
(actually the main headings are in one subreport, vertical columns in
sub-sub report under it. Unfortunately this also means each subject
must be as wide as the widest one, so, for example, if some subjects
have 6 details, and some have 4, the one with 4 has 2 blank columns.
No ideas on this yet.)
Why is this a sub-report? So any user can enter any list of subjects
& details in the table & get their own customized grading sheet.
Under this I have each student's name with boxes for First, Second,
Third Term.
My problem is that I get a blank space under the subreport.
I can't set it to Can Grow because then the columns across won't be
forced (they'll just go on til the end of the page), tho I did set it
to Can Shrink. (I set the sub-report to the size of the longest text.
If I set it any shorter, the next item will not line up.
On the screen the line under the report is 1/4 in above the bottom of
the sub-report, yet it shows up 1/4 under it, with a blank space!
(I know, I know, I should give in and switch to Access 2000 and get
normal vertical fields....if someone can tell me that they work really
well, maybe....
Thanks for any advice.
