Function?

I have a database in Access 2000.
In my table i have Date Closed and Date Report Initiated
I am trying to show the number of Days Open.
I tried the formula SUM(Date Closed-Report Initiated)
Some of the cells have null values, that was an issue.
I probably need to convert the dates to an actual number ex. 3.

My excel spreadsheet works. Is there a way to import my excel
spreadsheet into access as a table and develop my queries and reports
off of that?

Thank you in advance.

Sorry I had to make it so challenging.

Heather,

First, I recommend that you don't use your real email address in the
newsgroups. These are public groups and the trollers love to go through with
automated utilities and find email addresses to spam. If you want to give a
user the option, try modifying your address, such as
HW****************@cox.net (that's an underscore "_" not a space " ").

Now, for your formula. I believe what you are looking for is:

DateDiff("d", [Report Initiated], Nz([Date Closed], Date())) + 1

This will give you the number of days between the opening and closing of the
report, inclusively (i.e. the day at each end is counted). Remove the "+1"
if you don't want the ending day counted as one of the days the report was
open. For reports that don't have a closed date, that field would be Null,
the Nz function will change that to the current date, so it will give you
the number of days the report has been open, up to the current date.
