I posted this on the MS group but figured I might as well give it a shot
here as well:
There seems to be a problem with the HideDuplicates property for report
controls in Access 2000 (and above, I think) when running under XP. Fields
that have the HideDuplicates property set to Yes are not hidden unless all
of the values of the fields that are part of the report's sorting and
grouping criteria are identical. For a really simple example, if I have a
report that shows client id, product composition and product name, if I sort
the report by client id and product composition, and try to hide client id
duplicates, the client id will show for all records in the following:
ID Comp Name
1 Aluminum proda
1 plastic prodb
1 wood prodc
Under Windows 2000, it looks the way you'd think it would look:
ID Comp Name
1 Aluminum proda
plastic prodb
wood prodc
Under XP, gven the same sort, duplicates are only hidden in the following
case:
ID Comp Name
1 Aluminum proda
Aluminum prodb
1 wood prodc
Any work-arounds out there? I can't believe I'm the first one to have run
into this.
Thanks,
Bill B
