Is there a way to create/manipulate import specs in VBA?

Hi
Don't know if anyone has done this. According to KB article 119472
which applied to Access 97

"Import/export specifications are stored in the system tables
MsysIMEXSpecs and MsysIMEXColumns. "

It might be easier to write the whole import routine in VBA, specific
to your requirement, I have done that in the past

They're still there in 2002 but there's dangers for working directly
with system tables in any application being as they're generally
undocumented and for that reason, may change in a future version
rendering any code written on them useless. The added fact that those
two particular tables are read-only to us mortals didn't help either :-)

I've gone about it now by parsing the file and creating a CSV file from
that then linking directly to it, this doesn't need an import spec to
know where the delimiters are.

If you make Select queries on these tables, they can be freely updated by
hand, at least in Access 2000 and 97. Or you can modify values directly
using append and update queries.
