Really need some help - PLEASE

Nip
I am trying to make a database for my test participants. I have 10
participants and have a table with them called participants which
includes an auto number ID and then the participant number and start
date.
Now I want to rank these participants. So I have created 3 more
tables
one is called rankdescription and includes 5 ranking descriptions
which all 10 participants will have to rank.
The 2nd table is rankdate and includes 8 different dates by which each
of the 10 participants will have to rank each of the 5 ranking
descriptions
and finally the 3rd table is called rank and contains the numbers 1 to
5 for high to low plus must also allow for an entry in dollar figures
or show a message in a report that the category was not ranked.
I can not get these to all talk to one another and am totally lost on
which type of relationship I should be setting up so that the
information is only entered once in each table. Is this possible and
if so can someone walk me through it.
Thanks
Have had one suggestion to put the ID auto numbers from the rankdate,
rank and rank description tables into the participant table but now I
am confused as to what to do about relationships? Do I need to now
make a form to enter the auto numbers from all these tables into the
participant table? HELP

Huh? I can't make any sense of that at all. Maybe an example of what
sort of output you would want to see from that would be helpful.
Sometimes the best way to go about figuring out a data structure is
to work backwards from an example of the type of reports you want
to be able to create from your data.

OK, you want to rank participants. Based on what? Better yet, why
don't you start at the beginning and tell what business problem you
are trying to solve. Speaking for myself, this post is very hard to
understand. How do you rank a participant? Each person on a panel
votes? Explain the business process or whatever and go from there.

You need only one table to hold the participant's ranking data and
that should be rankdate. This should have a fields for the date, the
rank (number) and the dollar value (assuming that this dollar value is
unique to each ranking by a participant).

As follows

Participants ---
ID Name
1 John Ahmad
2 Lisa d'Angelo

Rankdescription ---
ID Description
1 High
2 pretty good
3 Moderate

Rankdate -----
PtcpntID RankDate RankID Dollars
1 26/9/04 1 12.00
1 27/9/04 2 125.00
2 26/9/04 2 36.00

Rankdate needs to hold 8 rows for each particant (for each of the
ranking dates). For a very simple entry you can get them to enter
directly into the datasheet (not a good long-term solution) using the
Lookup combobox which you can set up in the tables design (down the
bottom there should be 2 tabs, the first with the usual field length,
datatype etc, the second which should open a query wizard to let you
specifiy the data from the rankdescription table).

The combo will display the rank description, but will actually enter
the rankid into the Rankdate table in the RankID field. YOu can then
use the rankid in the query your report is based on to go to the Rank
table and get the description. Likewise you use the participant ID to
go to the Particpants table to get the name of the participant.

Query should be something like

Select
Particpants.Name,
Rankdate.Rankdate,
iif(Rankdate.rankid is null, "Not ranked",
Rankdescription.Description) as Rank,
Rankdate.Dollars
FROM (Participants inner join rankdate on rankdate.PtcpntID =
Participants.ID) left join Rankdescription on Rankdescription.ID =
rankdate.RankID

If I've misunderstood, please advise.
