SELECT used to populate a form - updating table

Hi everyone,

I've a simple table containing member details.

I've written a SELECT to select all the members. I've based the form
on this select, using the from wizard. Once built I've disabled the
MemberID key field on the form.

Changing any of the fields on the form and then exiting the field
effectively updates the field on the table.

Is there anyway to prevent this happen and base the update of the data
on the click a SAVE button, and allowing the user to click CLOSE to
prevent the update.

I'm capable of writing the same facilities using a recordset etc., but
the user likes the built in Access search facilities that come with
Access native record manipulation. It just would be satisfying to do
a final SAVE or CLOSE rather than have it update everytime you tab of
a field.

Hope this makes sense!

Thanks!
Jason.

You are trying to force Access to work a different way than it is designed,
so users who are familiar with Access are going to find the approach
"unintuitive". With that caution, you can use a Form-level variable in the
Save button to set an "I did save" flag, and code in the Before Update event
of the form to reset the values before closing the form if that flag has not
been set.
