SP2 - Access 97 issue

MS
Hi.

Just installed SP2, and Access 97 reports fail to load.

COMDLG32.dll has changed.

Unistalling SP2 fixed the problem.

Is there a work around to have SP2 and Access 97?

Is this a known issue?

Cheers!

Mmmm.

I have an A97 DB on my machine with SP1, no problems. A colleague installed
SP2, and now reports fail to load (same DB over a network). They won't open
in design view either. On removing SP2, no problems.

When trying to open in design view, it asks for comdlg32.dll.

This file on my machine (SP1) is about 220kb and circa March 2002, while
this file after SP2 install is about 275kb and dated August 2004. So
comdlg32.dll has been changed between service packs.

It sure seems wierd that the problem started after installing SP2.

Cheers!

Do you mean Win XP SP 2, or do you mean Access 97 Service Release 2? I'm not
running Win XP, but I have Access 97 on two machines, both with Service
Release 2, and am experiencing no similar problem.

Sorry!

Win XP SP2.

The installation worked fine, until the installation of Win XP SP2.

It seems related to comdlg32.dll. I'd like to have SP2, and was tempted to
replace the new comdlg32.dll with the old one, but don't know what else
would be affected.

Thanks!

Does your app have a reference to that dll? Except for the treeview
control all of the functionality from that library can be made with direct
API calls eliminating the need for a reference. That library is among the
worst for versioning problems between machines.
