Hi all, back again after a couple of years. Just thought I'd throw this one
in for anyone doing doing PDF outputs. I've just used PDF Exchange (found it
on Tony Toew's page) for this after hunting around for PDF creation programs
that a) work with Windows 2003 Server and b) doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
PDF Exchange seems to generate the smallest files I can see (about 25% the
size of equivalent PDF995 files for example), and is quick too - probably
twice the speed of say Win2PDF.
Severe drawback is that you can't programmatically control the filename
output (as far as I can see), although you can specify a specific filename
to output to - there's a facility to run a macro on output which I haven't
explored yet, which might let you do this. There is a pricey SDK which lets
you do all of this (and distribute a royalty-free PDF driver) but the coding
to do it is too involved for what I needed to do.
Hope someone finds this useful - I don't work for them btw.
