Month/Year Date Format

My computer is using the dd/mm/yyyy date format. Is there a simple
input mask for a date field that will accept just the month and year
eg. 08/04 and maybe default the day to 01? I presume that Access
would need a full date to be able to store it.

Alternatively can a date that has been entered (10/08/2004) be made to
just show as just the month and year either as 08/2004 or Aug 2004?

I've tried using the input mask: 00/0099;0;_. It looks like it is
going to work but when I enter 08/04 into the field it reformats it as
08/04/2004 instead of 08/2004.

Any help would be appreciated.
