Run-time A2003. Edit path to wrkgrp file.

P: n/a
Hi,

Have made a 2003 run-time app.

Front-end goes on PC. Back-end on server in F:\myapp, which is also the
place where system.mdw file is located.

So I need to change the shortcut, so it doesn't say
"..../wrkgrp c:\programs\myapp\system.mdw..."
but
"..../wrkgrp F:\myapp\system.mdw..."

thx
/jim

P.S any good links to a beginners guide on Windows Installer would be nice.
I may want to make some more changes :-)

Open the shortcut and change the Target: field (where the path to the
wrkgrp file is stored).

For many users I used to create the shortcut file on my work PC & then
save a copy to the server. When necessary I would change the shortcut
on the server & notify all users to replace their current shortcut w/
the new one on the server.

It may even be possible to send them the new shortcut in an email (never
tried that).

Of course, this assumes all users have same mapped drives.

I want the install program (msi) to use another path than the default..

I tried using orca.exe to edit the .msi-file, but it didn't work.
