updating a field on a particular day.

I have information in a field (WIAStatus) If the status
is Qtr1, Qtr2, Qtr3, Qtr4, or completed. I need these
values to update to the next quarter automatically on
January 1, April 1, July 1, and Oct 1. There may be
other values in this field such as Active or dropped
which I don't want affected. I have been searching the
internet, microsoft and my reference manuals for code
samples, but so far I've had no luck.

Any Ideas how I write this particular piece of code? I'd
appreciate any and all suggestions. Macro? module? VBA?

Thanks

Try this query after making a backup of your table:

UPDATE MyTable SET WIAStatus = 'Qtr' & CStr(Val(Right([WIAStatus], 1))
MOD 4 + 1) WHERE Left([WIAStatus],3) = 'Qtr';
