Outlook content to access

Hi

my first post so please be gentle...

I want to put the following prescribed content into an access
database:

TS:16
CS:13
TP:16
YP:13.0
F:100%
PS:70%
YS:81%
ST:Passed
Lesson: Address Search

I aslo need to pick up the sender from the email so that the test
scores can be linked to individuals

is this possible without any knowledge of VBA etc ie through rules or
some other clever workaround - the volume will be huge so it is
important that it can be done automatically however if that's not
possible then a macro or similar that has to be activated would be the
next best thing.

thanks in anticipation and hope

The more I think about this, the more loaded the question seems. Do
all the messages have the same subject (or something useful like
that)? Then you can attach your Outlook Inbox as if it were an Access
table and go from there. Then you'd need a table in Access with the
sender e-mail addresses and other info so you could link them
together.

Hi peiter

thanks for replying - in answer to your question the messages will
always have the title score

my intention at the moment is to use the outlook export facility to put
the contents into an excel file - and I am now engaged in trying to work
out how to find salient bits in the text string using (preferably) a
function.

hopefully I could then locate the characters "YS:" and the result in the
cell would be the three characters to the right of these ie 100 or XX%
(I would also have to employ the same method to find if they have passed
and which test was taken.

fortunately the name comes into a different cell automatically so I
could then use excel to create a table as follows:

name Score Test taken

the format of the bidy is fixed and I can't find anything in the excel
text to columns wizard that will seperate out what I need

hopefully I have not confused things further

Kind Regards

Hmm... I see no reason why you can't attach the outlook Inbox and then
query that just like you would an Access table. use
INSTR,MID,LEFT,RIGHT to get all the characters you want.... then use
CINT or whatever to convert the number to something you can use....

Don't know if I answered this already or not... if so, never mind.
Why not just attach to your Outlook Inbox and treat it like a normal
table in Access? You can use InStr, Mid$, Left$, Right$ etc to find
whatever you want and use queries to write expression values to your
table. Going though Excel seems a totally unnecessary step. You
could filter the messages by the title and then just append them...
