Appending boiler plate records w/o having a relationship - Pleasehelp

P: n/a
I'm building an action item database
among the tables are

Scope - A table that contains a scope of who gets assigned this task

AI Master - The master task (I want you to do this and other data)

Ai Detail - A group of entries for each work group/location/equip location
I want to see the details of the scope as I am assigning it then have
the items appended to the detail table. So I created a select query and
an append query that are exactly alike.. I display the select query on
the form and attempt to run the append query when I exit the record.

Here's my problem..
When I attempt to append i get key violation errors because I'm not
entering the primary key. I attempted to add the table containing the
key field but I get all kinds of relationship problems that add records
to the ones in the select query. I can't figure out how to get the key
field in the append query without getting into all kinds relationship
issues. I've tried Everything I know.... any help out there?
