Alpha characters

ED
I am trying to take the first initial of the last name of an employee
and add as the first character of their employee number. Is there an
easy way to do this?

Thanks

Let's see if I understand what you wish to do.
Last name = "Smith"
Employee# = 12345

You wish to get "S12345", correct?

=Left([LastName],1) & [EmployeeNumber]

Thanks that worked. It has been a long time since I have worked in
access so I am just trying to get my bearings together.
