Begginers' problems

uv
Hi!
I've been asked to write a database in Access and I'm making my first
steps.
I've encountered some problems:
1. I've made forms using the wizard and for some reason the fields are
entered into the tables automaticaly even without submition. How can I
avoid that?
2. In a way the opposite question: I would like to have the worker
login and date be automaticaly entered into the forms. How can I do
that?

I would be very grateful for any helpful tips.
Thanks,
uv

to the tables using code, but that's a LOT more work.

If you want to use CurrentUser, you have to make users login, which
means you need to implement security. Then you can write the value of
CurrentUser into the table you're writing to in the BeforeInsert event
of your form.

As an alternative to going down the full-blown security road, which is not
for the faint-hearted, a DIY login form that accepts a UserName and password
(see 'Input Masks' & Default Values) makes for a limited, though very useful
way to ascertain who logged in & when.

NB: this can be very easily bypassed, but as a place to start, I'd recommend
it.

Hi Pieter!
Thanks alot for the help.

I was thinking there should probably be a property of the form that can
be changed so that it won't update the table automaticaly.

Are you telling me the only way to do that is to unbind the form from
the table and then write the code binding it the way I prefer?

As to my second question, would you happen to know how do I get the time
from my computer so that I can automaticaly fill the date in my form?

Thank again,
Yuval
