Table data issues

P: n/a
I have a database, front and data backend, I have written in Access 97
and it has been chugging along for the last 6 years all with constant
updates except for the last year with almost no wupdates. Anyhow, the
database backend that stores all the data is now 225Mb in size and needs
to be compacted but some table issues stop me from doing this.

Both the tables, tblClient and tblClientItems, have multiple memo fields
and I believe the error is due to them.

Compacting gives be an error about not having read permisions on the
database <<enter full network path and filename here>>
I can import all the data backend tables and relationships apart from
these two tables. Errors about more than one person attempting to write
to the same record at the same time.

My question is, does anyone know a way around this issue. I need to get
this done ASAP as this is a production database.

Next year we will be migrating the backend database to MySQL or similar
to attempt to reduce these data issues. I am not looking forward to that
day as I basically learned access writing this sysytem and the older
objects (tables, queries, forms, VBA) can be very painful to work with -
and I wrote it.

TIA

Write some code that opens a recordset on a table, loops over all
records, and for each record access the values in each field (some
data types excluded). This will crash at the row with a corrupt memo
value, which you can then correct.
