Error whenenver I open a database

I am currently using Access 2000 on a windows xp professional machine.
Whenever I open Access I receive a message saying "An error occured
and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to
repair this feature now?" When I click yes it goes through the
install process, and then stops. Once finished I cannot access the
database. I close access, and go back in and I get the same error
message again. I have service packed office with sp1,2,3. I am an
administrator on the machine. I have tries uninstalling Office, but
some of the install still lingers in the reg. So I cannot complete a
total uninstall of Office 2000. I am starting to run out of ideas.
Please help. I would greatly appreciate it.

Backup your data, and rebuild your machine.
At least that takes a known quantity of time, wheras attempts to fix
it, take an unknown quantity of time.

Before you do this, try copying the Office installation disk to your
hard drive, then run Setup from the hard drive image and have it
repair your installation.

The Microsoft Installer is easily corrupted and eventually can't
handle valid installation media in some cases. Copying to the hard
drive often corrects this.

The MSI is a massive pile of crap.

Someday, MS will create tools and routines that rescue it from its
basic design flaws, just like they've begun to do with the system
registry.

Download Eraser2K.exe from http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=ofw2k

It is a utility that cleans the registery of lingering Office 2K entries after an uninstall. It may help.
