WHERE TO START?

This probably is not the best group to post this question but any ways.

I've been working with ms access for the last couple of years and gotten
very good at it. I have never been on any ms access course, all I know about
ms access I have learned from you guys and other websites and books. I
started creating very simple application and my latest one; I consider very
advances, which that I have developed with the help of Visual basic. I don't
make a living out of this as I am a business student, but I just like to
keep on learning new things.

Ok..........my request is simple; I just want some guidelines of where to
start in order to learn how to develop more useful and powerful
applications. What I'm looking for exactly is to be able to create an
application not necessarily using ms access, it could be visual basic 6.0 or
what ever (maybe vb net) to develop programs that retrieve data from online
sources, so I can distribute my application to other users and all of us be
able to use the same database stored on-line no matter where we are.

I would appreciate if some-one gives me a hint of where to start reading or
maybe a useful website...

Thanks in advance GAVO.

You said you're a business student. I'm guessing that means you're at
university.

If so: my $0.02 is to take a university-level Intro To Computer
Science class that uses C++. If you can, take the one that the CS
majors take (not the one offered to Business majors).

If you like that class, you could make CS your minor.

This is all IMHO, of course.

There's a book called Visual Basic 6 Quick Start which you can download from
Amazon.com for $1.99.
