Microsoft Office 2000 Developer Tools Licence question

Hi

I own the full Office 2000 Pro suite and would like to distribute an Access
database.
I realize that I need to buy Office 2000 Dev Tools and I saw it for
sale on a website for £20. The guy selling it says and i quote "there
isnt a licence number with it, it installs on top of your current office 2000
and uses the licence from that."

Is this correct?
If so, how do I prove that i own the Dev Tools. The CDs appear to be genuine MS
ones.

Denz,

Every Microsoft product has a CD-Key unless it's obtained through MSDN, Action
Pack or other subscription services though Microsoft. Someone offering to sell
any developer product for 20 pounds or dollars is obviously going to sell you a
copied CD and in that case it is a copyright infringement and carries
internationally a $250,000.00 USD fine per incident. Also, any product
developed with it and distributed would also be infringing on the copyright
Microsoft owns, I'm sure, but I'm not an attorney, and I would consult with
one, before making the 20 pound contribution!

Have a look at your Office 2000 CD's and documentation: they
have special labels, certificates, and 3D prisms to make
copying more difficult. If you are worried about authenticity,
buy from a reputable source and check quality of packaging
on the product.

Office 2000 Dev Tools does not require separate product
activation. Installation may require you to insert your
original Office CD.

Hi thanks your your replies

I actually bought the CD and it arrived today!!!
Its not what i thought. Its an original offical Microsoft CD with
Microsoft Office 2000 Developer Tools 1.5 written on it but apart from
that its all German or Dutch or something,

Anyway i thought that Dev Tools 1.5 was the alternative product to
Office 2000 Developer (which includes the Office 2000 pro suite) if
you already own Office 2000 but on this CD is about 12MB of data.
I thought that Dev Tools 1.5 included the Access 2000 Runtime module
that allows you to distrubute databases freely but its not on this CD.
Am i wrong here? All thats seems to be on the CD is Workflow stuff.

So it looks like Ive bought an expensive coffee mat.

So...can you tell me where i can possibly get a legit copy of Dev
Tools 1.5, im looking for Access 2000 runtime on it so i can
distribute my DB, and how much should i be looking to pay for it?

Thanks

Denz
