Access 97 Cpu useage

My Access 97 applictions seem to have recently become very Cpu useage
hungry.
[Using Windows 2000 128 mg Ram Cpu 1000 mgh]

When opened they go to almost 100% useage on the peformance monitor.
After several seconds this returns to near zero but again goes to near 100%
if the access window is clicked though it has remained the active window
throughout. Again subsiding after several seconds.

My Access 2000 versions of the same applications are much less cpu
hungry.not going above 50%

? Is that a problem with my access 97 installation

That's normal behaviour, and is nothing to get concerned about. During idle
time, Microsoft Access continuously polls its message queue to check for
keyboard and mouse activity. The behaviour was changed in Access 2000.

Check http://support.microsoft.com/?id=160819 for details.
